The Challenge

CloudSigma was running three storage solutions in parallel: an in-house ZFS-based system, an all-flash array, and several scale-out magnetic deployments from a commercial vendor. The vendors had over-promised on performance, were too expensive, and fell short on operational support, leaving CloudSigma’s operations and development teams stretched between storage problems and running their main cloud service.

The Solution

CloudSigma chose StorPool Storage with fully managed services and deployed it in every location, tailored to each facility’s parameters and requirements. Today that is 350+ storage nodes in 30+ clusters on standard HPE servers with KVM and redundant 10 GbE networks, integrated into CloudSigma’s own cloud management through a JSON API so storage is controlled from a single pane.
