As 2025 concludes, it’s time to reflect on a landmark year for StorPool and our community. This year was defined by significant achievements, key industry partnerships, and product innovations—all driven by our commitment to delivering the most flexible, high-performance, and cost-effective storage solution.
Here are the highlights that made 2025 a year of breakthroughs:
2025, Q1: Setting the Standard with Industry Recognition and Critical New Features
The year began with powerful momentum:
- Award-Winning Performance: We kicked off 2025 with the prestigious news that Tech Target had named StorPool a Storage Product of the Year for 2024. They recognized our product’s unmatched flexibility, high performance, and low latency—all delivered on industry-standard servers.
- The Future of DR is Built-In: We unveiled the StorPool Disaster Recovery Engine, the first-ever built-in disaster recovery solution for KVM-based clouds. Available at no additional cost to our customers, this feature provides automated failover, eliminating the need for expensive third-party tools or complex DIY setups.
- Connecting with the Cloud Community: In March, we joined CloudFest 2025 to meet with customers and industry leaders. Our Product Marketing Manager, Dave Henry, delivered a well-received presentation on seamless migrations from VMware to Linux KVM. (You can view a recording of the presentation on our YouTube channel.)
2025, Q2: Empowering Customers to Escape Vendor Lock-In
We focused on providing alternatives and strengthening our ecosystem:
- The vSAN Exit Strategy: As Broadcom’s shift impacted VMware customers, StorPool stepped forward to help vSAN customers develop clear and effective exit strategies. StorPool Storage stands as the optimal choice, filling the critical HCI gap left by virtualization alternatives to vSphere.
- Partnership and Reliability at HPE Discover: We strengthened our collaboration at HPE Discover, reinforcing the solid partnership between StorPool and HPE. Our software-defined storage (SDS) software running on HPE servers continues to offer a flexible and extremely reliable foundation for your most demanding workloads.
- Bridging VMs and Containers: In a major integration milestone, we announced support for and integration with Kubernetes KubeVirt. This provides organizations with an elegant solution to begin their transformation from traditional VMs to modern containers within a hybrid cloud infrastructure.
2025, Q3: Driving Efficiency and Lowering TCO
- Greener, More Powerful Computing with ARM-64: We announced support for Ampere ARM-64 CPUs, allowing customers to significantly reduce their data center and carbon footprints. ARM-64 CPUs boast a superior compute power-to-power draw ratio, enabling more compute in less space. Our customer, CloudSigma, realized a 15% margin increase after adopting StorPool Storage on Ampere ARM-64.
- Deepening Our CloudStack Commitment: We proudly sponsored the CloudStack European User Group meeting in London. Our Solution Architect, Nikolay Tenev, presented on building Tier 1 cloud infrastructure on CloudStack-based platforms.
- The True Cost of Open-Source Storage: We provided a critical look at the hidden costs of using the open-source Ceph. While Ceph is inexpensive upfront, its complexity often results in lost cost savings due to excessive management time. StorPool’s fully-managed service simplifies storage, delivering performance far exceeding what is typically achievable with Ceph.
- Defining the Smarter HCI: We wrapped up the quarter with an in-depth, three-part blog series on hyperconverged infrastructure, exploring what HCI truly is, the unseen benefits, and the StorPool-specific advantages of our smarter HCI implementation.
Q4: Ending Strong with Key Integrations and Technical Leadership
We concluded the year with powerful new integrations and thought leadership:
- Optimal HCI for Oracle Virtualization: We announced our support for and integration with Oracle Virtualization. StorPool Storage offers a software-based hyperconverged infrastructure solution for this platform, simplifying the deployment of virtualized Oracle databases and other applications.
- Sharing Expertise at CCC: We closed out the year by participating in the annual CloudStack Collaboration Conference (CCC). StorPool delivered two high-impact presentations: Solution Architect Venko Moyankov offered a comparative analysis of I/O modes, and CTO and Co-Founder Boyan Krosnov demonstrated how to build a professional-grade CloudStack environment running 2,800 VMs using just five servers. Venko also ran an interactive workshop titled “Measuring Storage Performance: What to Measure and How.”
