SREcon20 Americas was one of the most anticipated technology events this year. The virtual conference gathered IT specialists and experts from around the world from 7 to 9 of December 2020. StorPool Storage had a speaker at the event – Boyan Krosnov who talked about KVM and how to achieve better performance for KVM clouds.
Talk “Achieving the Ultimate Performance with KVM” by Boyan Krosnov
Many companies build new-age KVM clouds, only to find out that their applications & workloads do not perform well. In his talk on SREcon20 Americas “Achieving the Ultimate Performance with KVM”, Boyan showed the audience how to get the most out of their KVM cloud and how to optimize it for performance. He gave his expert insight into why performance matters and how to measure it properly. Boyan showed how to optimize CPU and memory for ultimate performance and how to tune the storage layer for performance. In the talk, he outlined what are the main components of an efficient new-age cloud and which network components work best. In addition, Boyan showed how to select the right hardware to achieve unmatched performance for new-age cloud and applications.
In his presentation Boyan talked about the 4 aspects of building a powerful and efficient cloud infrastructure: Hardware; Compute – CPU and memory; Networking and Storage. The audience had the chance to better understand the different infrastructure layers and how to optimize their infrastructure using KVM. In addition, they’ve learned how to optimize CPU and memory for better performance and how to tune the storage layer for performance with the help of a powerful software-defined storage solution.
Boyan Krosnov is a Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of StorPool Storage, an SDS company specializing in high-performance, high-reliability storage systems for public and private clouds. He is in charge of cloud infrastructure in the KVM ecosystem, helping small and large cloud operators build and maintain all aspects of their public and private clouds. In previous lives, Boyan was a co-founder of a packet processing (SDN) company and built several service providers (ISPs, FTTH) from scratch.
