The Challenge

Hosted.nl needed to replace old, poorly performing iSCSI storage built on a mix of vendors, including Dell EqualLogic, EMC VNXe and Tintri. The new platform had to support mixed workloads, from shared web hosting, hosted desktops and Exchange e-mail hosting to private and hybrid clouds on VMware and KVM managed with OnApp, while delivering high performance, scalability, reliability and good support.

The Solution

StorPool fully replaced the legacy Dell EMC and Tintri storage with high-performance, fully managed clusters: a hybrid SSD/HDD cluster and an NVMe cluster on Dell PowerEdge and Supermicro all-NVMe nodes with 40GbE networking, working seamlessly with VMware. Scaling that once took heavy planning and workload balancing is now a matter of adding drives or nodes, and performance grows with every expansion.
